Today in the Wall Street Journal there was an
article about a guy who went into a Jeep dealership to buy a Wrangler and the salesperson tried to upsell him some rims and tires by saying they were high-end. Because the guy didn't believe the salesperson, he whipped out the iPod and immediately looked online to find the price of the rims, which were in fact not more expense and definitely not high-end.
This article got me thinking about the benefits consumers have available through mobile internet devices, such as an iPod. I wish the internet was available to me the last time I was purchasing a vehicle; I know for sure I would have been looking at kbb.com or one of many finance calculator sites while I was negotiating. This is actually a great way to leverage yourself in a new or used car negotiation.
Also, I found this website,
MotherProof.com which is a site developed by moms who review cars, swap car tips, discuss various articles, travel tips and miscellaneous mom talk. One of the great things about sites like this is that consumers have the opportunity to share thoughts, experiences, and opinions about topics such as buying a car, etc. These days, people have survey results, product reviews, and more information than they know what to do with. Interactive sites such as motherproof.com or our site can offer the those who need some extra support or confidence in their automotive purchases.
