Is there a way to remove antifreeze from windshield fluid reservoir?
I was recently asked this question through the "Suggestion Box" section of our site. I am guessing that this person accidentally added engine coolant to the windshield fluid reservoir, which believe it or not isn't too uncommon. Here's the deal, you don't want to spray that Sh*# on your windshield so here is a few options:
#1
- If you have a wetvac, with a long skinny extension, go ahead and stick the vacuum in the reservoir and suck the coolant out. Then add some water, and suck again.
#2
- If you have a reservoir with a long neck and you cannot insert a vacuum into it, then you have a bigger problem. You can either try and figure out how to remove the thing and dump it out, or take it to a dealership and let them deal with the situation.
#3
- Now, this is truly a shade tree mechanic maneuver. Take a bath towel and place it over your windshield. Then, proceed to spray all of the coolant until it runs out. Your towel should be covered with coolant, and it would be best not to wash it with your delicates. Take note men, your wives will kill you if you do. This method only works if your wipers do not activate when you turn on your sprayers. If your wipers turn on, then your towel trick will not work. Sorry.
Hopefully I have solved your problem, Mr. or Ms. coolant in the washer fluid person. Good luck with that.
