This topic will be discussed plenty, I assure you; first I want to disbar a few myths about this long lived debate.
------------------------------------
Myth #1
If I have used conventional “regular” oil in my car for the majority of its life, I cannot switch over to synthetic oil.
FALSE – that’s ridiculous; does that mean that because you have been drinking Skol vodka for most of your life that you can’t switch to Grey Goose in your martinis?
Myth #2
If there is conventional “regular” oil in my engine, and it runs low a quart, I cannot top off with synthetic oil because my engine will blow up.
FALSE - there is no chemical compound in synthetic oil that would trigger an explosion when mixed with its evil counterpart.
Myth #3
If I use synthetic, I only need to change the oil every 25,000 miles.
FALSE – unless when you reached the 25,000 mile marker you had planned to replace the whole engine including the oil.
Myth #4
Synthetic oil is only for luxury or high performance vehicles.
FALSE – synthetic oil can be used in any engine, and in fact, I would encourage its use.
