In my last post I gave some opinions about the C.A.R.S. program also known as Cash for Clunkers.  I realized today that there was one aspect of the program that I failed to talk about; will Cash for Clunkers save fuel and green house gas emissions?  In a recent article in BusinessWeek, the discussion about whether the program is "green" or not came up.  One of the driving forces behind this program was to conserve fuel energy and save on dangerous emissions.  However, what is slowly being learned is that consumers are buying new, gas guzzling vehicles to replace their old ones.  Additionally, the vehicles that are being traded in are not necessarily high pollutant targets; I mean, 18 mpg is not necessarily a high emission vehicle, nor is it going to have a great impact on the safe environment pilgrimage.

I don't want to spend much more effort talking about this program, because really, I don't see how it is going to change things  for the auto industry or even the economy, but I am happy to see the benefit to the every day consumer who is struggling and has been giving a great opportunity purchase a new truck or car by reaping some stimulus package benefits.

Ok, my next post will have some educational information in it, I promise....
