Another topic that came in through our Suggestion Box...

Why does my tire pressure alarm goes off every winter?

Because, as the temperature gets colder, the air outside and in your tires compresses and becomes heavier, which in turn reduces the amount of air volume in your tires and as a result your tire pressure goes down.  This usually results in 1-5 pounds of pressure loss and your tire sensors are designed to indicate pressure loss, even if it is only a couple of pounds.

As you drive a bit or when the temperature increases outside, the air inside the tires will expand increasing pressure.  Usually, there is no reason to be concerned when these sensors go on after a cold night or a first freeze (In fact, at the dealership we use to wait for customers to come in after the first really cold night because we knew those sensors would turn on the warning light), but it is always a good idea to have the pressure checked to make sure the problem isn't bigger than cold air.

Good question, and keep'em coming!
